Worshiping Other Gods

13 [a]If a prophet,(A) or one who foretells by dreams,(B) appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, and if the sign(C) or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods”(D) (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” you must not listen to the words of that prophet(E) or dreamer.(F) The Lord your God is testing(G) you to find out whether you love(H) him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow,(I) and him you must revere.(J) Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast(K) to him.

19 When someone tells you to consult(A) mediums and spiritists,(B) who whisper and mutter,(C) should not a people inquire(D) of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20 Consult God’s instruction(E) and the testimony of warning.(F) If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light(G) of dawn.

13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse,(A) deceiving and being deceived.(B) 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,(C) 15 and how from infancy(D) you have known the Holy Scriptures,(E) which are able to make you wise(F) for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed(G) and is useful for teaching,(H) rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,(I) 17 so that the servant of God[a](J) may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.(K)
